On 16 Jan 2017 cadets from the Gainesville and St. Augustine Squadrons received orientation flights in both gliders, and a CAP Cessna 172. The flights were conducted at Herlong Recreational Airport, a few miles southwest of Jacksonville. The airport, originally built during World War II to facilitate pilot training for the Navy and Air Force, hosts the North Florida Soaring Society which uses Blanik two-seat sailplanes. The weather was perfect and the cadets had a full day of flying. |
