Training Leaders of Cadets Courses 11 and 12 Nov

posted Oct 27, 2017, 1:03 PM by David Froiseth

Do you work with cadets?  Do you want to become more effective at mentoring them and managing squadron level cadet programs?  Then register for the new Training Leaders of Cadets (TLC) Basic or Intermediate Course being hosted by Group 2-FLWG at the Patrick AFB Airman Education Center, Cocoa Beach, FL.  Newly redesigned and converted to a 1-day format each, the TLC courses equip adult leaders with youth mentoring skills, policy knowledge, and practical tools for implementing the CAP Cadet Program.  The TLC is a great venue for sharing best practices and seeing how other squadrons cope with the perennial challenges of leading a cadet unit, so there’s something for newcomers and experienced leaders alike.  Every generation of cadets says that the #1 factor contributing to the success of their cadet experience is the quality of the adult leaders.  This is why the TLC program is so important.

The Basic Course is on Saturday, 11 Nov 2017, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  It is designed for new adult members, adult members serving in positions below squadron deputy commander, and veteran CP officers seeking refresher training.  Topics include putting excitement into squadron meetings, mentoring cadets to develop their potential, getting cadets off to a great start, providing each cadet with a tailor-made challenge and developing partnerships with parents.  Register for the TLC Basic course here:  https://goo.gl/forms/0NcOsJ8YmgnQhBSv1

The Intermediate Course is on Sunday, 12 Nov 2017, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  It is designed for graduates of TLC Basic or previous TLC course, adult members preparing for service as a squadron commander or deputy commander of cadets, and veteran CP officers seeking refresher training (Note:  limited to graduates of the TLC Basic Course or previous TLC course graduates).  Topics include understanding the millennial generation, employing constructive discipline, supporting special needs cadets, getting the most from wing and national-level activities, helping cadets develop habits of self-criticism and self-development.  Register for the TLC Intermediate course here:  https://goo.gl/forms/u22RxRSCLj23gj6l1

Courses are open to seniors who have completed Level One (no cadets allowed, this is a forum where adults can freely discuss their challenges in mentoring cadets).  Uniform is Air Force light blue shirt without tie, or white aviator shirt (with gray slacks/skirt).

Lodging location is La Quinta Inn and Suites, 7200 George T.
