On Saturday 11 November the squadron will be participating in the annual Veterans Day Celebration at Veterans Memorial Park (7430 NW 41st Pl, Gainesville, FL). Chief Minck is organizing our participation which will include manning our recruiting tent, proudly wearing our uniforms, viewing the displays and demonstrations and most importantly meeting veterans and thanking them for their service. Capt Kiker will be there around 8:00 AM to set up the table and tent, with 9:00 AM being when organizations should be ready for citizens to visit the organization’s tents. At 10:00 AM there is an informal presentation at the Freedom Center and at 10:30 AM the music will begin. At 11:00 AM sharp the formal program will begin and at around noon the formal program will end and citizens may hang around for another 30-45 minutes. Once the crowd dissipates, groups may begin packing up and shutting down for the day. There will be food at the event by the JROTC and after the event at 1:00 the American Legion Post 16 is welcoming people to come there for a lunch as well. Cadets planning to participate should email Chief Minck and Capt Kiker. Plan to arrive NLT 9:00 AM in your Class B AF Blues Uniform (if you do not have a complete Blues uniform, do not show up in partial uniform). Bring money for lunch. Because this event honors our veterans you should show the utmost professionalism. If you have any questions call Capt Kiker at 352-317-4860. |
